    Tutorial: Basic Alarm Install

Published by Krystm at 2:22 pm under Mazda Tutorials

    Tools Required:
    Various Screw Drivers
    Razor Blade
    Soldering Iron
    Electrical Tape
    Cutters / Strippers
    Difficulty: 11 / 10
    Time Required: 1-4 Hrs
    Install:
Due to the Nature of this install DO NOT ATTEMPT this install if you are uncomfortable with wiring and disassembling your car. This is a very in depth install so DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I am not responsible if you Mess your car up doing this. DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE ATTEMPTING!
THIS IS NOT FOR THE WEAK, This tutorial is going to be VERY VAGUE as not to give the location of the main unit. I will show you where the wires needed to tap are and how to get to them but that is about it. Remember this is an item that is for PROFESSIONAL INSTALLERS. I will not show how to program your alarm as I said all alarms are different.
What you need to keep in mind is that every alarm is different you may need diodes, resistors or relays to trigger these items. Possible locations I did find for install of main unit: Under/Behind Steering, Under Center Dash, Under Center Console, Behind/Under/Around Glove Box.
Below is the list of wires needed to tap for a BASIC install. This will allow you to lock/unlock the car. This does not cover the hood pin or trunk latch as I have a hatch.

Constant 12V – Thick Gauge Red – Ignition harness
Ignition – Thick Gauge Yellow – Ignition harness
Parking Lights- Black/White – headlight stalk harness
    Unlock / Disarm – Black/White – drivers kick
    Lock / Arm – Black/Blue – drivers kick
Doorpin / Domelight – Black/Blue – passenger kick, harness closest to firewall
Black Ground – Anywhere that you can ground to your car.
Hood Pin Comes with this is a when grounded will trigger alarm. Drill hole make sure contact is on ....l.
Horn Placement and install pretty simple Find a place out of the way of heat and run though the firewall into the cabin to the (+) of the alarm. And (-) to a Ground.
I started by running the wire to the antenna. Since it is on the windshield pull the cover from up the arm. It pops right off but does take a little force.

To pull the bottom of the console free. The hard part is removing the screw behind hood latch. You can actually unscrew this without removing the latch. That is how I did it but I also saw how to remove the latch after the fact. Will most likely get a pic of that later but was able to do it without removing it.

There are 3 screws that hold the steering column on. Once removed you can remove the cover and access the Ignition, Constant and Parking light wires. The parking lights need a Negative pulse to trigger. The Ignition harness pull the clip down and it will pop right out.

Constant (RED) Stripped and Parking (Black/White) Stripped

Remove the Kick Panel on the Driver’s side. This will give you access to the wires needed to Lock/Unlock the doors.

To get access to the wires needed to trigger the alarm when the doors are opened you need to attach to the
Black/Blue Wire in the harness under the fuse panel.

Those are the wires needed for a BASIC Install. In addition since this model has a Turbo Timer I needed to install the switch to activate the engine management part of the alarm so here is where I put it bottom side of the steering column.

I may add other pics later like window module and area sensor when I do those for locations.

Krystm’s Garage and it’s affiliates are not responsible for any damage or problems that may come from doing things incorrectly these are only guides. However if you follow these guides and are careful there should be no problems. Just take your time and follow the guides.
