This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Lotus Evora S; a faster, lairier, more sideways version of
Hethel's most excellent sports coupe.
Addressing a tiny bugbear we've had for some time on the Evora, the S gets a
supercharger strapped to its 3.5-litre
Toyota V6 loins,
upping power to a rather righteous 345bhp
and 295lb ft of torque...and finally into
genuine sportscar country.
The 0-62mph dash now takes 4.6s (4.9s for the
standard car), while top speed rises 10mph to 172mph.
The sideways-ness comes courtesy of
revised traction control settings, allowing
more drift before the system intervenes. You even get
more ‘grrr' with the S, thanks to an exhaust bypass
valve courtesy of the standard fit sports pack,
which also improves throttle response.
The Evora S gets revised suspension
settings, a larger rear diffuser and
cross-drilled brakes to deal with the added grunt under the bonnet,
while Lotus is - unusually - also offering a
paddle-shift auto for the standard EvoraStill want that Cayman
