Daihatsu news from an unexpected source: the Japanese pull the plug from sales in Europe from 2013. The after-sales organization will be maintained.
The Japanese are faced with increased competition in the European market, the high cost of developing new models and the expensive Japanese Yen continued forced sales of new cars to stop. The supply of parts and service and other after-sales activities will just continue.
The European market for small cars in recent years characterized by a growing brands and models offered. Where the A-segment (segment of the smallest cars) ten years ago was dominated by a few brands, there are currently more than a dozen brands under this segment. As a result, Daihatsu saw its market share shrink, even though the demand for small cars has risen substantially in recent years.
In Europe, for cars with the highest standards when it comes to safety and environmental impact. In the future new models on the market to keep on meeting these stringent requirements will Daihatsu high costs in research and development. Taking into account the increasing competition in the compact segment and the current economic climate in which the Japanese Yen against the Euro for quite some time ongekend duur, looks Daihatsu Motor Company inadequate perspective in car sales in Europe wanting to invest in high Research and development costs. Early 2013, therefore an end to sales of new Daihatsu cars in Europe. In countries outside Europe where Daihatsu is now active, the car sales continue unchanged.
Daihatsu was founded in 1907 and the Japanese company that specializes in energy efficiency and compact cars. From 1978 Daihatsu active on the Dutch market and since then the brand in our country for over 200,000 cars sold.
