With six honors for five engines BMW defends successfully its position as a manufacturer of high performance and efficient drive units, leading world-wide, with " International Engine of the Year Award ". The price was presented in the context of the " engines Expo " 2008 in Stuttgart with altogether six Trophaeen continues BMW its dominance for ten years in the engine competition. The renewed success of the six-cylinder with twin turbo is already the sixth total victory. For the second time in a row wins the 3.0 litres six cylinder with twin turbo and High Precision Injection the total evaluation. The strong 225 kW/306 HP which is built in the BMW for the 3 series, in the BMW 1er Coupé and in the BMW 1er Cabrio as well as in the new BMW X6, triumphed in the engine category of 2,5 to 3.0 litres. Likewise the 373 kW/507 HP strong engine won in the category of the 4.0 litres engines. The 309 kW/420 HP strong V8 of the new BMW M3 wins in the engine category of 3,0 and 4,0 litres.

For the first time the title " Best New Engine of the Year " is assigned to a diesel engine. The 150 kW/204 HP strong four-cylinder Diesels with variable twin turbo used in the BMW 123d wins for its performance and efficiency. As world-wide first full aluminum Diesel drive the engine achieved more than 100 HP per litre volume.

" International Engine of the Year Award " is assigned since 1999 by an international jury from professional car journalists.
