Lexus will likely become a hybrid-only brand

Already known as the luxury segment’s “greenest” brand, Lexus is reportedly looking to build upon this reputation by moving to a completely hybrid lineup in the medium to long term. The statements were made by Toyota managing officer Toshio Furutani to Japan’s Nikkei business daily and indicate the company will fast-track development of future hybrid models.

The information backs up statements previously made by Lexus executives in Europe and Australia about the future of the brand as it expands out of the North American market.

Lexus already sells three hybrid models, the LS 600h, the GS 450h and the RX 400h crossover. We’ve already had confirmation that Lexus will show a dedicated hybrid vehicle based on the Prius at next year's Detroit Auto Show and the new-generation RX crossover with a hybrid variant is expected to debut sometime within the next year as well.

That still leaves a number of models in the carmaker's portfolio with no hybrid powertrains such as the IS, GX, LX, and the ES, all of which are likely to go hybrid only when updated models are released. With the SC nearing the end of production, it’s expected a possible brand new model could be a luxury hybrid convertible, although Lexus hasn’t decided whether it till revive the SC badge.

Another option on the table is a small hatchback to compete with the BMW 1-series and Audi A3. Such a vehicle would best be served with a plug-in hybrid powertrain for regular city use. Toyota is already testing plug-in versions of the Prius and expects to release it in 2010.

The GS 450h has already shown what a “performance” hybrid is capable of doing, so Lexus may also decide to expand the technology to future ‘F’ branded models. With 100% of torque instantaneously available from the electric motor, hybrid performance could put an end to the old saying “there’s no replacement for displacement.” One of the first F hybrids could be the upcoming LF-A supercar, which is expected to be available with a petrol-electric option.

الترجمه

في ظل وعرفه الجميع ب لكزس على انها ماركه السيارات الخضراء المترفه

قررت تويوتا على ان تجعل من لكزس فعلا ماركه خضراء

و لكن بكل موديلتها بداَ من اصغر موديلتها المعروف اسميا حتى الان بأسم BS

الذي سينافس الفئه الاولى من بي ام دابليو و ادودي ايه 3 و وصولا الى LS الفخم و الذي كان حجر الاساس في الشركه

و بالطبع مرورا ب IS , GS , ES , LX , GX , JX , SC & RX

في كل موديلاته و ستبدا لكزس ب ال BS الذي قالت عنه تويوتا انها ستكون جاهزه بموديل من بريوس تابع للكزس

بالطبع دون الافصاح عن الاسم

ثم ب RX الذي حتى الان بجيله الجديد كل ما يجرب من محركات هي محركات هجينه و لعل هذه اشاره على تحوله تماما ايضا للهجين

يذكر ان JX هو الرمز لسياره ال SAV المزمع صنعها على شاسيه GS لتكون منافس لسيارات X5 , X6 , Q7 & CAYENNE

و اخيرا على 2015 سيكون الجيل الجديد من ال LX

يبدو ان كلامي فوق صحيح

فا في خبر نشر على اكبر موقع منتديات لشركه لكزس على النت

ذكر الكاتب انه لا يستبعد اطلاقا ان يكون الجيل القادم من RX كله هجين و هو ما قلته من قبل ان ال RX سيكون البدايه

مع موديل اصغر يسمى حاليا كوديا باسم BS

When I read Toyota Managing Officer Toshio Furutani's comments in the Nikkei Business News last week that "in the medium to long term, Toyota was considering making the Lexus lineup hybrid-only", it barely registered. Now, after seeing it reported over and over, I've come to release it might be an idea to post here -- this is a Lexus news site, after all.

Honestly, I had always just assumed that eventually Lexus would stop selling conventional gas engines and replace them all with hybrid versions. In fact, with the hybrid version of the RX making up 86% of all European sales and the very technology being so important to the brand's success there, I wouldn't be surprised to see the next-gen RX to be only offered as a hybrid there.

With the exception of the IS-F, picturing a hybrid-only lineup isn't very difficult at all -- and then when you consider the rumor that the LF-A would also be offered as a hybrid, even the IS-F doesn't seem implausible at all.

(And this doesn't even take into account the potential brand benefit of being the first mass market car manufacturer to drop conventional engines!)

ساطالب ان اكون من الاداره في اليابان

المهم

في السابق توقعت وجود سياره صغيره من لكزس ستكون على شاسيه ال IS و لكنها اخت ال PRIUS

و ستكون اول سياره في الطريق الى ان تصبح لكزس شركه كامله هجين

و في الامس اصبح هناك شبه تأكد من ان الجيل القادم من ال RX سيكون كله هجين

و تبقى اصغر و اول سياره هجين كامله في مجموعه لكزس و التي عرفتها ب BS

و قد اعلنت لكزس انها في صدد انشائها في اوروبا

In an interview with German newspaper WirtschaftsWoche, Lexus Europe Managing Director Tadashi Arashima confirmed that Lexus will indeed be launching a compact entry-level model. From Motor Authority:

“We will offer a Lexus in the compact class,” he told reporters, explaining that the company needs “smaller and more efficient vehicles” to meet Europe’s CO2 emissions regulations. He described the car as being a rival to the likes of BMW’s 1-series and Audi’s A3, although he didn't reveal any exact release date.

Lexus has been selling in cars in Europe since 1990 but it still commands less than 1% of the total market, something Arashima hopes to change with the introduction of a more affordable and more fuel-efficient model.

Motor Authority seems to think that this isn't a vehicle we will see in North America, but I don't believe that to be the case at all. In fact, I'd go as far to say that this would probably eclipse BMW 1-series & Audi A3 sales in very short order. Tiny luxury, especially combined with hybrid technology, would be a perfect package for the USA's current economic climate.
