Skoda Adds 1.0-Liter TSI 3-Cylinder Engine To Octavia Range

Skoda's new 1-liter 115 PS TSI engine has already started to replace the old 1,2 TSI, as a better, more efficient option in the Octavia range.

This small 3-cylinder engine hasn't reached every market though, and as of right now, it's only available in countries such as the Czech
Aside from the 115 PS power output, the 1.0-liter TSI also produces 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque, helping the Octavia hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 9.9 seconds as long as the driver is shifting via the 6-speed manual transmission.
Republic, Germany and the UK, whereas buyers in France, Spain and Italy can only order 1.2-liter or bigger displacement petrol units.

A 7-speed DSG automatic is also available, and will only add 0.1 seconds to the car's 0-100 acceleration time.

The Octavia 1.0 TSI can reach a top speed of 202 km/h (125 mph) and average 5.4 l/100 km (43.5 US mpg) in the city, or 3.9 l/100km (4.1 DSG) on the highway - which is roughly the equivalent of 60 mpg in the US. As for CO2 emissions, they stand at 104 g/km (106 DSG), which is better than what the older 1.2 TSI units are capable of.

Prices for the 1.0 TSI Octavia start from £16,660 in the UK, €19,090 in Germany and 395,900 Kc in the Czech Republic. This engine configuration is also available in some Eastern European markets such as Hungary and Romania.
