You might get a good start thanks to the low weight of ur car but in the end Torque/HP will dominate .

you will just accellerate faster on low speeds .
especialy if for an outdated 12 years old engine

oil filters are dirt cheap
and is not considered spare part . I am talking about Serious spare parts mechnical and body parts .

ANyways by chance I drove one Yesterda ( 2007 )
Performance is no way near any 1600 cars I've been into , Powersteering is good , shifting is good yet the car ride is very STIFF and HARD .

Quality wise , matches no VW at all ( materials and build quality)

Overall its not bad , but its too overpriced .. should be for 60-65 maximum .

EDIT : The one I test drove was a friends car , he wants to sell it desperately for like 4 months now ( 12800 KM )

he thinks its a good car but the dealer and spare parts are totally overpriced and sometimes not even available .

also the resell value is crap , he is offering it for 62.000 and still no one is considering it , its totally new -_ no accidents or whatsoever .

Well I was in the same dilema
But I got my Palio ;) for 68.000 ( 1 year and half ago

The gen 2 is a hatchback aswell / and it reaches 100 in 10.5 seconds

btw having low weight to maximize speed is not really a great option on high speeds ... the car will feel blobby >

Anyways , I still think its price and spae parts prices are overKILL .

indeed , but tunning a low HP-Torque engine will end up only in something like 25-35 hp increase , hp increase are very much related to the size of the engine and its hp >

and even to do that in Egypt , for example my car can go from 83 hp to 100 or so but I need an ECU reprogramming ( which is not avaialbe ) a trademark Exahust system , also not available and a decent complete induction kit > which is hardly available :D
