I Need Practical Ideas For Increasing Low End Torque - Experienced Users

I am satisfied with my Lanos when it comes to accelerating at higher speeds ...
I mean , it takes no time to pull from a 100 Km/h to a 130 km/h
but it takes a hell lot of time to make it pull from a dead start to 80 or something ....
what can i do to improve acceleration given that i do not really care about top speed .... i'm not such a fan of racing anyway , just want something that won't give me a heart attack trying to make it actually accelerate ...

i can rev it to high RPMs to make that happen ... but but i believe there is something to do to shift the torque curve to peak at lower RPMs ... i know the basic principals but i want something applicable here in egypt given the limited resources for engine tuning ....

Iridium Spark plugs are more durable than regular spark plugs but it offers no advantage regarding performance .... it is a myth what people say about feeling performance improvements after installing aftermarket spark plugs .... probably they do not want to say that they paid for nothing ...

did you do any modifications to the engine??? i mean do you have a cone filter or a high flow exhaust?

i am assuming this is the 1.5 SOHC... so i will not go into troublshooting VGIS problems and also will assume that you have the short ratio D16 gear box as well

All is stock my friend ...
SOHC 1.5 with stock lanos gear box ... not sure what is the model no. of the gear .

if all is stock then i am afraid their isn't much to do...

most modifications that reduce intake/exhaust restriction are aiming for high end HP on the expense of low/mid range torque and since you have non then you are at the maximum torque attainable

if you want more torque then you'd have to swap in a bigger capacity engine or install a turbo

طبعاً أنا مش خبير بس حقول اللي أعرفه

تحقيق تسارع عالي على لفات موتور منخفضة ممكن تحقيقه من خلال تعديل الجيربوكس او تعديل عمود الكامات او البساتم او سرعة خروج العادم بما يؤدي لرفع القوة الحصانية للمحرك.
تحقيق تسارع عالي على لفات موتور منخفضة سيؤدي الى وصول الموتور للعزم الأقصى عند بلوغ عدد لفات منخفض وسيؤدي الى زيادة الإجهاد الميكانيكي على أجزاء المحرك ويؤدي تقصير عمره بشكل ملحوظ حتى لو استخدمت السيارة بشكل عادي.

الموضوع ممكن يتكلف كتير وفي الحالة دي أعتقد انه من الأفضل تسقيط محرك له الخواص المطلوبة وعمل تعديلات مناسبة في العفشة والشاسيه.

أعتقد ده نفس رأي أ/ ممدوح

بس الأفضل انك تحسن طريقة دخول الهواء للمحرك وده حيحسن اداء المحرك في لفات الموتور المنخفضه بدون تعديل في الأساسيات.

with one condition ofcourse ... availability of spare parts for the newly swapped engine ?

I really admire how the debate is going on. Although I am not a real expert but let me suggest swapping your 1500cc engine with that of 1600cc of the same make i.e. the Lanos.This will give you more horse power without having to undergo such modifications. This is my humble point of view.

your only option here is the 1.6 DOHC engine... it is going to be a direct swap with 0% mount modification and given the fact that it is a nubira engine then you have nothing to worry about as far as maintenance and spare parts are concerned

you are quite right... other options will involve engine mount fabrication (2000 cc from a leganza) or problems in spare parts and the DMV (150HP 2000cc C20XE from an opel calibra) so the 1600 is indeed the best option
