Dear Tam1976
Well, the new Colt is a wonderful car in general. First off, the build quality is great, and if you're a fan of European engineering you'd love this car- which shares 60% of its components with the Smart ForFour. The only downside to this is that spare parts tend to be pricey (front brake pads EGP 700, rear wiper blade EGP 180) since most parts are of German origin.
The car comes with decent safety kit, ABS/EBD and a driver airbag (few cars, however, come with a passenger airbag- like mine).
Perfomrance wise, the car is a great performer (the engine is very responsive and stability is good at high speeds).
The Colt comes with a 1.5L (109 hp) engine and Mitsubishi's AllShift six-speed automated manual transmission gearbox (commonly referred to here in Egypt as 'steptronic').
The only negative opoints worth mentioning here are that gear shifts tend to be 'slow' when the car is set to 'Automatic' mode, and that stability becomes somewhat compromised in tight cornering even at relatively low speeds.
When it comes to interior, one word, SPACIOUS! Well, relatively of course, for a car its size. I'm a big guy (183 cm, 120 kg) but the car still feels roomy to me even on long trips.
One word though, the car comes WITHOUT the factory radio/Cd unit and, if you want to benefit from the onboard computer, you need to buy that from abroad and it's VERY expensive. Otherwise, you can get an aftermarket unit here in Egypt but you won't be able to toggle through the various functions of the computer.
As for maintenance, I go to the Qalioub service centre. The people there are good, taking into consideration that they don't see many of those.
In a nutshell, if you're looking for a well-built car under EGP 100K and safety is important to you, then this is the car for you. However, if you just want a small hatch, then look elsewhere.
N.B. The car runs on 95 octane petrol.
If you'd like to talk a look at mine, feel free to contact me on 'Private' and we can take it out for a spin in Maadi.
