If you have a new car it should be treated as soon as possible. The treatment given by the importer of the car is very short in duration and in 99% of the cases it only consists of a wax treatment (and wax is not a sustainable treatment – it disappears after only some weeks).
When you get your car home you should wash it with a clean microfibercloth and use a mild and gentle soap, like the Glare Wash. Be sure to keep the cloth clean and free of dirt, do not leave it at the ground. It is also important that you ensure to keep the washing water clean, for instance by having a second bucket where you wash of the dirt on the cloth. Also make sure that you wash off the soap before it dries out, of the same reason we suggest that you do not wash the car in direct sunlight – the sun dries the soap much faster. When you have washed the entire vehicle, you use a chamois to have the car dry – do not let water drops dry out on the vehicle.
The most common mistake people make during the car wash is that they do not use clean enough towels and cloths – this actually cause scratches to the paint and clearcoat during the wash process. Another tip is to use a water hose and flush the car without using any cloth as the first step, this is done to remove as much sand and dirt as possible before you start washing with the cloth.
When the car is washed you are ready to start polishing and we recommend that you use a polishing machine. If you only polish your vehicle a couple of times a year, it is OK to buy a cheap polish machine. But if you like to treat your car and perhaps have other things you polish like boats, motorcycles etc – we recommend our Glare Hurricane polishing machine which really is “top of the line” when it comes to polishing. It has a plastic housing to protect against electrical shock, a powerful engine and a variable speed adjustment. In the market you will find expensive special polishing machines – we see no advantage to these machines compared to the Glare, except that the Glare is much cheaper. When you are about to polish your new car for the first time, you should look for products that protect your vehicle in the long run. Look what we write about the different solutions in the market, it makes it easier for you to make your choice – remember that a standard wax product is the shortest lasting solution out there, and unfortunately the most of the products in the market is based on wax.
With your new car we recommend to use four products:
First step:
Use a de-greaser/de-waxer to remove all wax and other substrates from your cars clearcoat, be sure to use a waterbased product in this stage.
Second step:
Wash the car with Glare Ultra Wash to remove the product firmly from step 1.
Third Step:
Use a microfiber towel to buff the Micro Finish into the paint, work with it until it allmost dissappears. Let it dry for 15 minutes and remove the remains firmly with a clean and dry microfibertowel. Is it essential that you remove all remains from the micro finish, to be able to get the right bonding with the Polish in the next step.
Fourth Step:
Use a orbital polisher with a good polishing/finishing pad to apply the Professional Polish. Remember that Glare is highly concentrated so you do not need to much product. Simply apply the product in drops to the car surface and work it in with the buffer. We recommend that you use the Blue Hurricane Pad on your new car to have the Polish on it. After you have buffed the product into the paint, let it dry for 30 minutes and then buff off with a clean and dry microfiber towel.
When it comes to polishing and getting the best results, it cannot be underlined strongly enough the importance of high quality pads and cloths. Too many people actually makes scratches during the polishing process because they use the wrong tools.
Maintaining the great result:
Your new car is now protected and has one of the best protections possible in the market – and it will last for a long time. How long it will last depends on use and maintaining from your side, but under normal conditions you should not have to polish your car for the next year. We recommend that you keep your car clean and use Glare Wash as your wash detergent – it contains Glassplexin that will give your car a re-shine after each wash. You may also, on your own wish, perform step 4 of the process from time to time – just to ensure that you always have a more shiny car than your neighbors. Also remember our advices about the wash process – that is where many of the scratches are made, dirt on your vehicle are rubbed into the paint and cause scratches.
