It is similar in case of comparing price lists of Chinese models, but in theirs case differences are much bigger. Chery Auto mulls opening factory in Brazil

Big Chinese automaker Chery is considering open a 700-million-dollar factor in Brazil to tap into the country's growing market, and to learn more about building biofuel-capable engines, Brazil's Gazeta Mercantil daily reported Friday. "Our development center is already working on this project," the head of Chery, Yin Tongyao, said. The plant, which would supply the Latin American market, would be built by 2012 if it goes ahead, he said.

Carmarker Chery to set up plant in Turkey

Chinese carmaker Chery plans to set up a new car manufacturing plant in northwestern Turkey, an executive of the company said on Thursday. Chery Turkiye Sales Director Gokhan Altmisdort said that Chery aims to manufacture 100,000 cars a year in its new plant. "This is nearly 10 percent of Chery's overall output," Altmisdort said.

Chery Auto is set to release its luxury car brand Riich (Ruiqi) on March 18, with six models to go on sale in the high-end auto market. The Chery Riich logo closely resembles that of Bentley. In addition to the logo, the exterior of Chery Riich also has much in common with Bentley. This design is shared by other luxury brands as well, such as Chrysler and Aston Martin.

Sources revealed yesterday that China's top economic planner has approved of Chery Auto's plan to buy the Volvo brand from Ford Motor, Shanghai-based Oriental Morning Post reported today. But the report is not confirmed yet by Chery Auto. The media report added that another Chinese carmaker Dongfeng Motor has also submitted its Volvo-bidding plan to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). However, the company's spokesman denied such a move yesterday.

Chery Auto launches hybrid-car offensive

Not long after unveiling its first electric car called the S18, China's Chery Auto said it plans to launch two more hybrid cars this year to tap into the growing hybrid car market, reported Shanghai Securities News. An unnamed Chery engineer told the newspaper that Chery Auto would launch an A5 hybrid car this year and an A3 hybrid in 2010. Also a Tiggo-based hynrid SUV model and a QQ-based pure electric model are under development though no timeline was set for their launch.

Chery Auto possible to buy Europe car brand

Chery Automobile Co Ltd officially launched its much anticipated A3 car at Shanghai International Automobile City this afternoon. The automaker revealed that the B00 segment A3 will be priced at 81,800 yuan ($11,990) to 89,800 yuan. The model on sale today is powered by Chery's own 1.6L 16-valve ACTECO engine putting out about 87.5 kW. Maximum speed can reach 186km/h.

Chery to hit Iranian roads by January '09

An Iranian carmaker has struck a deal with Chery, the largest independent car company in China, to assemble 6,000 vehicles in 2009. The announcement was made by Seyyed Hossein Ahmadi, head of the Industries and Mines Department of Khorasan Razavi province, at an auto fair in the capital city Mashhad. Sanabad Khorasan Khodro, an affiliate of Iran Khodro -- the Middle East's largest carmaker -- will begin assembly of the vehicles in January 2009 in the northeastern Khorasan Razavi province, and will use Chinese technology.

According to announces, Chery Automobile Co. started the distribution of its cars in Turkey and Argentina. Developing activities in this country is part of the ambitious Chery’s plan, which expects 50% growth of export. Till the end of the year, the Chinese potentate wants to sell as much as 180,000 cars outside China. In the first quarter export’s share in the entire brand’s sale was 40,7%. “We really believe in achieving such result”, Chery’s spokesperson – Wang Chao says. “In the first quarter we exported over 80,000 cars”.

An insider recent said that the partnership talks between China's Chery Auto and Italian carmaker Fiat has stalled now as the Chinese automaker's requirements cannot be fully met. Their talks for a joint venture have made no progress since April. According to an insider close to the deal, Chery is now very determined to get the Alfa Romeo, and Fiat will not give up the partnership bottom-line of locally producing its Linea and Bravo cars in China if it aims to achieve the annual sales of 300,000 units.

Chery rolls into South Africa

China's Chery Automobile has launched the cheapest car in South Africa. The Chery QQ, a minicompact that is a near-clone of the Chevrolet Spark and Daewoo Matiz, will be priced from $7,900 for the basic 800cc model, according to South African distributor McCarthy Motor Holdings. In South Africa, the largest auto market on the African continent, the QQ will compete with another Chinese minicar, the Changan Benben, which is rebadged Chana Benni and priced from $10,300.

Chrysler to part from Beijing JV in pursuit of Chery

Chery Automobile has denied a recent Russian media report that Avtotor Group, Chery’s partner in Russia, announced they would stop assembling Chery brand vehicles from March 31. Chery conquers Australian market

First chinese cars will be imported to Australia from early next year.
