think swapping is the way to go .....
what is the biggest engine that can fit a lanos without modification to chassis or engine bay ?
with one condition ofcourse ... availability of spare parts for the newly swapped engine ?

I really admire how the debate is going on. Although I am not a real expert but let me suggest swapping your 1500cc engine with that of 1600cc of the same make i.e. the Lanos.This will give you more horse power without having to undergo such modifications. This is my humble point of view.

your only option here is the 1.6 DOHC engine... it is going to be a direct swap with 0% mount modification and given the fact that it is a nubira engine then you have nothing to worry about as far as maintenance and spare parts are concerned

you are quite right... other options will involve engine mount fabrication (2000 cc from a leganza) or problems in spare parts and the DMV (150HP 2000cc C20XE from an opel calibra) so the 1600 is indeed the best option
