Thats my baby, before and after. I stripped all the paint, fixed all the dents, and rebuilt the suspension in my one-car garage at home. Painted it ten years ago with Sikkens paint and it still is very shiny today. But my point is that I started the same way, doing a lot of hand sanding, and applying primer with a brush, one panel at a time as I fixed it. Then I took it to the bodyshop I worked at to final primer and paint it. It was still very expensive, but you can do it.
Thanks! No problem, Ahmed. You are welcome, sharing auto body experience is what I like to do. I have many picture albums. If you read the magazine Car Craft, John McGann has been doing many helpful project articles in there. You should check them out, if you have not.
EVO VII cars are quite rare here, prices are very high for parts and wrecks. Late model salvage parts dealers here will price things based on the Mitsubishi price minus a percentage. I did some research, and the engine you want has a LOT of torque, wow. But I am lost when it comes to pricing, if you can get a wrecked (but it has to be good) EVO with the right engine and transmission for three thousand or so, I think thats a decent buy. Probably many more EVOs on the road in Egypt than USA so our prices are much higher.
For example, with 1997-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix like mine, there is a supercharged engine option (GTP) that made up to 260 HP, 280 TQ. As opposed to the regular GT like mine which is 200 HP and 225 TQ. Those numbers are stock though. But there are so many differences between the two versions that if you want a supercharger it is easier to just buy a GTP to begin with. The GT and GTP cost about the same. I wanted a GT because they can use regular gas.
So its possible that it would be most effective to sell the Lancer (with nice paint) and buy an EVO. I mean it may cost less in the long run. But I may be wrong and I know you love your car, everyone does.
I will never be a rich man but if I was, Egypt is one place I would like to see. Typical American tourist, I want to see pyramids. Show us what some egyptian hot rods look like if you can. What American cars do you see in traffic? What is the gasoline like? Does it contain alcohol? What is the octane rating? Curious
