    Either of them....won't differ :)l

But to be more precise, rear mounted fits better with what I mean because there are really strange locations for turbo setups

The pic you posted above is for the STS turbo system....isn't it?l

Tell me more.....I wanted to know your opinion on such setups but was afraid of hijacking the thread with another content

Anyway from what i've read they are cool setups with nice features but they suffer from the stereotypical image of turbo lag and stuff

    well i hate them alot

just think of the amount of tubing you have to do for charge pipes & oil feed lines & oil return lines & coolant lines... i even found more concerns such as water splashes and exhaust gases temp and exhaust turbine rotation speed

also you gotta do heat protect the turbo area and istalling the turbo is a nightmare

i wonder what is the point of such setup anyways... seems too much of a hussle with very little gains if any

First thanks for creating this thread :)l

To answer your questions, there are no intercooler/ piping as .the length of the piping running back to the throttle body is enough to cool the air usually. Only a must in my opinion if your running a decent amount of boost

Due to this intake temperatures remain lower, engine compartment temps are lower, and therefore it is easier on the engine

As for the water splashes you can overcome them by splash guards

The point that they are good for cars with tight / cramped engine bays....think V8's. It's relatively easy to install as you don't need manifold to buy/fabricate and an intercooler as I mentioned earlier

About the gains, I'll let you check the link and you judge yourself

    http://www.ststurbo.com/home

Click testimonials there are tons of cars running these things

All in all it's a pretty solid setup for what they are and for the people of the above mentioned criteria but nothing too brilliant compared to traditional setup's(with roomier engine bays)

I almost forgot....they sound great too

it is still argued that the long piping will put lag to the system and even that 350 got an intercooler so thats extra lag... forget about comments saying "hardly any lag" and so, they are talking about an auto tranny car and those don't drop as much RPMs as the manual tranny cars and thus they are not as much laggers as the manuals... also a real racer will be too low to the ground to have much space to put the turbo

and for me i'd charge cutomers double the fees for such setup as it is much much harder to install... not to mention therouting of all turbo inputs (oil and coolant) as well as requiring a return pump for the oil

as for the sound... it is not much different than a properly turboed car... you can clearly hear the BOV as it is under the car not in the engine bay... and for sure you ill hear the turbo so clearly... it is mounted in thin air for crying out loud... if the only purpose of adding a turbo is to hear it then people should record a sound trak and play it over and over on their MP3 player... it is much cheaper and safer... not as much fun though

actually that reminded me of another problem... if you decided to use a bypass valve then you will have one more extra long vacuum line to route and if you go with a BOV then you are reducing effecency even more

also cars with air mass meters will need relocation of the sensor and again long @$$ wiring

it is too much of a hussle to do
