Note 1 ..
و هى (formic, oxalic, glycolic, glyoxalic and acetic acid)..
Note 2 ..
Note 1
In general, coolants degrade over time as the ethylene glycol breaks down into primarily glycolic and formic acids. Degradation occurs more quickly in engines operating at higher temperatures or those that allow more air into cooling systems
Glycol breakdown products are acidic and contribute to a drop in pH. Once a coolant has degraded, due to glycol breakdown and pH drop, engine metals are at risk for corrosion
.
When ethylene glycol is used in a system, it may become oxidized to five organic acids (formic, oxalic, glycolic, glyoxalic and acetic acid). Inhibited ethylene glycol antifreeze mixes are available, with additives that buffer the pH and reserve alkalinity of the solution to prevent oxidation of ethylene glycol and formation of these acids. Nitrites, silicates, theodin, borates and azoles may also be used to prevent corrosive attack on metal.
Note 2
Aluminum corrosion is minimal at 7.5 up to 9.5. Silicate works best as an aluminum corrosion inhibitor at pH of 8.5 to 9.5. If the pH is lower, the phosphates help protect the aluminum. When using water to dilute glycol to a working concentration of 40-50%, use distilled, RO or even softened water. The calcium in tap water will react, causing scaling and reduced the effectiveness of the silicate.
