the most important thing in mounting an upper strutbar is to mount a lower steel bar that holds the lower body(chassis) of the car,to protect the body from cracks created by torques and couples during cornering and drifting with the car, specially after supercharging or turbo charging your engine, the result will be cracks in the engine bay (in both rear or front wheel drive cars),i have encountered this problem in many cars "modified and unmodified, rear wheels drive and front wheels drive" to only solution to prevent this problem is to hold and reinforce the lower car body as well as the inforcement added to the upper car body.
if the cracks already have appeared in the car's chassis, nothing will be able to repair the crack even if you have welded them.
if you tried to weld the crack, the welding will be cracked again in the near future,
the cars that i have encountered these cracks in the chassis were vw mk4(VR6) and bmw e30 (330i),lancia dedra 2.0T all of the cars were powered with hardened koni suspension and upper strutbars and performance brakes and low profile tyres, and performance exhaust system.
so don't forget to support the lower portion of your car's body otherwise you will regret it
